FIRST VISIT
By consulting our office, you’re taking an exciting first step toward better health. Chiropractic care is different. This difference offers new ways to get well and stay well.
After filling out some brief paperwork describing you, your health history and health goals you will meet the doctor. The initial consultation is a chance for you and your doctor to get to know one another. The doctor will study your results and give you a complete report of his findings. After a review of the conclusions made, your doctor will tell you if you would benefit from consulting another practitioner or from a program of specific chiropractic adjustments.
If a program of chiropractic adjustments is suggested then an examination follows. The doctor may test your reflexes and will study the way you bend and turn. Along with other physical, orthopedic and chiropractic tests the part of your spine which could be causing the problem is located. The examination is thorough and should put you at ease.
With a plan in place to fulfill your health goals, future visits will take just minutes. These frequent visits will locate and reduce your vertebral subluxations and monitor the healing process.
Will I require X-rays?
X-rays and other types of images can be helpful. Pictures of you spine, especially after trauma, can confirm the doctor’s findings and make your care more precise. The doctor will know if he needs the images after completing the examinations.
How long until I feel better?
Chiropractic care depends greatly on the healing abilities of each patient and since such abilities vary from patient to patient, so do the result times. Some patients experience almost instant relief whereas others discover that the healing process can take months, sometimes years. Patients recover at their own pace, depending on factors such as age, overall health condition, muscle tone, diet and attitude.
When will I get my first adjustment?
It depends on your complaint and how long it may take to study your examination findings. This is a clinical decision that varies from patient to patient.
Will I receive any medication for my pain?
No. Doctors of chiropractic do not dispense drugs. They rely on natural methods and will suggest the use of ice to control any painful symptoms. Ice, when properly applied, can have an analgesic effect without the side effects associated with pain medications.
