Spinal Scan Technology (sEMG/Thermography)
This revolutionary technology allows chiropractors to better identify the affected areas of the spine. The sEMG (Surface Electromyogram) measures the muscles tension at various vertebral levels by detecting the electrical current going through the muscles on each side of the spine. An analysis is then done to measure the difference in muscle tension from the left to the right of the spine for various vertebral levels. This is helpful in identifying how much strain is being applied on the vertebrae by the muscles that could potentially pull them out of alignment. The thermography scan measures the skin temperature on both sides of the spine at various vertebral levels. Where there is a statistically large difference in temperature from left to right at a specific vertebral level, we can predict potential nerve irritation at that area. In essence, this scan technology allows chiropractors to assess the nervous system as a whole. The motor nervous system (nerves going to muscles) is assessed using the sEMG scan. The autonomic nervous system (nerves going to organs) is assessed using the thermography scan. This technology allows us to document improvements and treatment efficacy. Scans are performed at different intervals during a treatment plan to assure that things are going as planned. |
